AyC Grenadier Dark Review (12/5/2011)

Hello again cigar smokers, and welcome to my next review.  Today we are going to take a look, and a good puff of, Antonio y Cleopatra Grenadier Dark Cigars.  If you read my most recent review, you would know I quite liked their Corona Lights, but how will the Grenadier Dark hold up?

AyC, or Antonio y Cleopatra grow and make their cigars inthe sunny Dominican Republic, and have done so since 1879.  With fertile soil, tobacco growingpedigree back to the days of the Conquistadors, tons of sunny weatherand good rainfall, the Dominican Republic is considered one of the bestgrowing regions in the world for cigar tobacco, and some even prefer itover the much over-hyped and over-priced Cuban varieties.

Inspecting the cigars upon opening the box, I find that again they are quite nicely uniform, in good construction, and exhibit all the uniformity that you would expect from quality machine-made cigars.  There were no major defects, little loose tobacco, and appear and smell fresh and ready to smoke.

The AyC Grenadier Dark is really a pleasure to smoke as well.  It is mild, and the pedigree of it's Cuban tobacco seed really shines through.  You really have to look at the heritage of the tobacco of your cigar if you really enjoy cigars and it has the distinction, subtle flavors and mild smoke that one would expect from an expensive Cuban brand.  The wrapper is natural, tight, and has a pleasing color and form to it.  The aroma is noticeable, but pleasant in every way, and I found that it lingered for a while, but not for a undesirable amount of time.

If you want to buy discount cigars, AyC has a great product line, and the AyC Grenadier Dark is certainly no exception.  A good smoke at a great value.
