Kentucky Select, the Pipe Tobacco You Should Select (4/25/2013)

Today we review Kentucky Select Pipe Tobacco.  A relative new comer by Sun Butler's Organic Smoke Inc.  It is Virginia Tobacco that is flue cured and includes some natural extracts.  The pipe tobacco is a shag cut, and the packaging is a very noticeable but simple black bag with lettering, although the organic blend comes in a bag that looks more like a burlap sack (A rather clever packaging in my humble opinion).

Smelling the tobacco, I notice the agave, vanilla and prune extracts along with the classic smell of Virginia tobacco.  It is rather pleasant and complex without being overly so, and I find it makes me rather eager to light it up and smoke it.  The tobacco has great color and texture, and the shag cut seems uniform and of good quality.  With such great first impressions, I am shocked at how impressed I am with this very low price pipe tobacco.

Packing and lighting the tobacco requires minimal effort, and I get it smoking in virtually no time.  The aroma is very pleasant, and reminds me of many higher end brands, being mild and very indoor friendly.  The flavors do not disappoint either, being medium strength smoke with mild and surprising complex and satisfying flavors.

Many of my friends had told me that this tobacco was so good, that they were using it to roll cigarettes!  I was in shock, rolling up pipe tobacco?!?  Surely they are crazy.  But, after such a great pipe smoking experience, I decided I would give it a go as well.  I rolled up the Kentucky Select pipe tobacco in a typical cigarette paper, and much to my surprise, it was a great mellow smoke! 

With the fantastic flavors, Virginia tobacco, ability to smoke it like a cigarette, and the unbelievably low price, I would recommend Kentucky Select pipe tobacco to anyone.  If you have not tried it, put it on the top of your list immediately!
