While this is only a brief overview of their history, lets take a closer look at the Cain Daytona and how it performs!
Construction:
Just like every other cigar I have had out of the Studio Tobac line, this cigar looks just amazing. Evenly packed from head to foot, the cap is placed seamlessly and the foot band sets this cigar apart from the others, even if they are resting in the humidor. The wrapper requires some special attention - just the right amount of tooth to reinforce the natural appearance, it almost appeared to be 'dipped' in the wrapper as the seams from the leaf seemed to disappear completely.
Flavor:
Right from the start a pleasant, almost borderline "healthy", dose of spice covers your taste buds, only slightly accentuated with an immediate earth and leather combination that was balanced out with a sweet natural tobacco flavor. Once an inch or so into the cigar, the draw opens up with an added wood note that while it did not change the overall flavor, gave a bit more complexity to this solid cigar. While the 2nd and final third of these cigars provided a more refined and rich flavor with minor variations in intensity, the spicy earth, wood, leather and natural tobacco flavors rang true from start to finish.
Overall:
I have said it before and I will say it again - having a cigar that is more linear is not a bad thing, in fact many times it is actually desired. Not always do you have a chance to sit down and devote your full attention to subtle changes in flavor - sometimes you just want a cigar that smokes well, tastes great and is at an excellent price.
